Details
A datapack with the purpose of streamlining the creative process behind parkour, in a way that leaves it ready for distribution once it's done.
The What
This pack features:
- Easy to set up, fixed-position checkpoints
- An intuitive practice mode and retry button for players
- A savestate-esque position loading system for trying jumps out
- A built-in onlysprint mode
- Quick-switching in and out of the playstate using F3+F4
- Preset gamerules
The Why
Map maker servers such as hollowcube already provide functionality for parkour map-making, which begs the question: why make this datapack?
My answer is, you might find it neat to be able to freely package your map with your own data and resource packs (or even mods). This pack, if used on its own, is at best equal to what you'd find on parkour servers, but the environment you get to use it in is empowering enough to justify its existence.
The How
There are three functions I recommend calling after creating your world:
function ez_pk:give/cpfunction ez_pk:give/goalfunction ez_pk:give/snapshotter
These will each give you one new item added by the pack. I recommend putting them in a custom hotbar for easy access.
The snapshotter allows you to store a position by right-clicking it. This creates a snapshot you can use any time to return to that position.
You can set checkpoint positions by right-clicking on one with a snapshot.
You can also control the map start position and whether players are given a brush by accessing the settings via ender chest.
You may also enable onlysprint rules by tagging a player with tag [target] add ez_pk.onlysprint
